PERMACULTURE GARDEN COORDINATOR POSITION

With weekly changing voluntourists, different types of travelers and different aims of the self sustainable projects of TCDF and Eco-Logic we are looking for a garden coordinator who can assist and work together with our staff and voluntourists to coordinate the work in our food forest, vegetable gardens, herbal gardens, farm projects and flower gardens on the premises of our Circular Campus of the Foundation. You will be working  ca. 5 hours per day, 5 days a week. Free days can be decided in the weekly meeting with our staff. TCDF Eco-Logic  provides a private room, 3 meals per day and activities.

The position is available from beginning November to end of March.

ARRIVAL DAY:

  • Welcome to Eco-Logic. - Bracelet ceremony. - The host will go to the program of your work experience project.

  • Settle in your accommodation

DEPARTURE DAY:

  • 07.30-8:30 Yoga session

  • 08.00-10.00 Breakfast

You are responsible for 

  • Representing the Thai Child Development Foundation and Eco-Logic Thailand in a positive way, being able to explain the basic concept of becoming self sustainable the work of the Foundation to guests, visitors and volunteers.

  • Organizing and introduction  meeting for arriving new voluntourists. And a closure/ thank you every departure.

  • Working hand in hand with the rotating volunteers (if any) 3 hours a day in the mornings.

  • Plan the work for the whole week during the meeting with our management once a week and from there on take charge and work independently

  • Make sure that all the volunteers:

    • Know what to do

    • Know why we ask them to do it

    • Know how to work in a responsible way: safe, proper clothing and taking good care of tools and material

DAILY PROGRAM

  • Depending on the season there are a number of jobs to do. However the jobs that have priority will be decided upon by the management and may depend on season, weather, amount of upcoming visitors, holiday of students/ staff etcetera. 

  • You will work ca. 5 hours per day, 5 days a week. Free days can be decided in the weekly meeting with our staff. ,

  • 9.00-12.00 rain or shine ☺; with or without volunteers together with our staff.

  • 14.00-16.00 work independently, where needed, decided together with management

Wear protective clothes, closed shoes, gloves and mosquito repellent at all times. Bring drinking water.

POSSIBLE WEEK SCHEDULE WORKING WITH VOLUNTEERS IN THE MORNINGS

  • Arrival day volunteers: introduction, tour

 

Working days:

  • 07.30 - 8.30 Yoga (you can choose to do yoga in the morning or afternoon)

  • 08.00-09:00Breakfast

  • 09.00 -12.00  prepare and work on compost, farm, nursery, weeding or harvesting depending on the week schedule and season.

  • Volunteers are picked up from the restaurant at 10.00 oclock

  • 13:00 Lunch together with guests/volunteers

  • 14.00-16.00 work independently, where needed

  • 19:00 Dinner  together with guests/volunteers

 

Saturday:

  • 09.00-15.30: Saturday school (CLC) Activities with local children

Seasonal focusses

 

March-April-May: Dry season & school summer long holiday

  • Watering

  • Mulching weekly

  • Weeding/ keep it neat for hosting educational school camps

  • Collect as much dry coffee peels as possible: stock for rainy season

June: Quiet time &start of Special School new school year

  • Weeding, recycling, help out where students cannot jet cover the farm jobs

  • Prepare big amounts of compost before the rain comes

  • Collect as much dry coffee peels as possible: stock for rainy season

  • Check, fix and clean all plastic roof shields for the farms

July-August: High season western families visiting & beginning of rainy season

  • Harvesting daily

  • Composting entire property ; all patches and all pineapples

  • Tree planting big action jobs entire property

  • Hosting, explaining, tours , farming workshops with visitors

September-October- Quiet time, transit to dryer season, occasional floods!

  • Sprout enough seeds for all patches, all vegetable groups (see file)

  • Replant all available patches

  • Check, fix and clean all water pipe / overflow systems for the gardens

  • Check and fix all bamboo poles for creeper vegetables

  • Trim all fruit trees

November-December- Januari-Februari

  • Harvesting daily

  • Mulching all patches

  • Hosting, explaining, tours , farming workshops with visitors
